I will be honest: I’m no cook. I fancy myself more of an expert re-heater. Beyond that, I love to eat and am immensely grateful for home cooking and the hands that prepare the foods, flavors and aromas that are apart of us, that we grew up with, and that take us back. For me, it’s my father’s Yorkshire pudding smothered in gravy and my mom’s Thanksgiving turkey. A warm and fuzzy feeling, smothered love on a plate. But times are changing. Life is busy. A Seasonal Reminder of All We Have

Amid all the presents and stuff that the holiday season brings, there is no better time to be reminded of how fortunate we are for many basic things we take for granted and to teach our children the same. Videos gone viral of spoiled children having tantrums because their new iPhone X is the wrong color makes me want to punch someone – and not necessarily the kid. Consider it a public service of sorts on behalf of those children’s future spouses, roommates, neighbors and co-workers. Let’s take a moment to regain a bit of perspective.
